Jester. Philosopher. Poet.

Advocate of Wordz breaks the laws of grammar and brazenly shares the self-incriminating evidence with all. This poet, actor, teacher and comedian has been featured at Lincoln Center, Roseland Ballroom, Princeton University & Georgetown University. His work has been written about and/or included in many major publications including the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Fox News, Univision, PBS and El Museo Del Barrio's Anthology "Speak Up, Speak Out". His first published book “Advocate of Wordz: a book of poems and other creative nonsense that is imperative to your existence” is currently available on Amazon.

When Wordz is not on stage, he is said to be teaching poetry and performance to students as young as the third grade. Though, he is really teaching them how to talk their way out of detention effectively. He is a writer and member of “SLAM 101”. A theatrical mock slam scripted towards a young audience, introducing them to what a poetry slam is and the art of spoken word. He is also a regular for the Nuyorican Poets Café’s school programs which invite classes into the venue for a writing and performing on stage workshop. In 2013 he co-founded the Annual Bronx Youth Poetry SLAM, which invites students to compete in a 2 round poetry slam for computer and mobile electronics geared towards furthering their education.

Advocate is a founding member of “El Grito De Poetas,” a group of 6 acclaimed Latino Poets deriving inspiration from their experiences and lineage. The group is the recipient of the "Areito Award" and "Commissioner's Distinguished Award" from the NY State Department of Health. Wordz was also casted in Being Latino’s “Sh*t Latinos Don’t Say,” a comedic video addressing various stereotypes which was covered by CNN.

Advocate frequently hosts a variety of events. “The Tompkins Square Park Film Festival” showcases classic movies on a weekly basis during the summer in the Lower East Side of New York City. The Inspired Word’s (TIW) “Slam Master Jam” is a monthly poetry slam which culminates to in December with cash prizes and a Grand Slam Champion is crowned. “The LOL! NYC Comedy Slam” is a monthly competition for comedians who compete for cash prizes, also produced by TIW. “Babble In The Bronx” is a monthly Open Mic & Feature show for poets, comedians, singers and emcees.

Raised in The Bronx between seedy neighborhoods and affluent communities, the multicultural parlor trickster of paragraphs began fashioning language in an attempt to bridge the duality of his world. Through travel, trial and tribulation, Advocate of Wordz and his poetry has transcended many social boundaries which has allowed him meet, inspire and entertain various audiences and perspectives. He is also the handsome son of a Conservative Puerto Rican who can speak in Old English and a Liberal White Woman who knows how to mambo!

Advocate of Wordz embodies the writer's colorful spectrum."
